GREENPORT NORTH WILL GENERATE GREEN GROWTH FROM SURPLUS HEAT IN THE PORT OF HIRTSHALS

GREENPORT NORTH WILL EXPLORE THE POTENTIAL OF REDISTRIBUTING SURPLUS HEAT IN THE PORT

A number of companies in the port generate large amounts of surplus heat that could potentially be applied to the public utility grid or be used as process heating in other industries.

The political agreement concerning surplus heat from September 2021 will make it possible to apply the heat to the public utility grid in Hirtshals. However, the demand is already largely met with the surplus heat available from Lilleheden A/S and AVV in Hjørring.

Consequently, Greenport North will initiate efforts to identify models for creating green growth from the surplus heat in the port.

– We are facing a future in which the amount of surplus heat will increase, and we need to investigate how to harness it for growth. At the same time, we can improve sustainability by offering green process heating to companies in the port, says Greenport North CEO, Steen Harding Hintze.

Greenport North invites prospective takers of surplus heat to take part in the development of models, tailored to their energy profile. For more information, please get in touch.
