GREENPORT NORTH WORKS WITH REFERENCE TO THE 17 GLOBAL GOALS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

AMBITIOUS GLOBAL AGENDA

The 17 goals for sustainable development build on the eight goals of the UN’s 2015 agenda. The new goals focus increasing on sustainability.

All citizens of the world are entitled to a life in peace and prosperity. We have the necessary knowledge, technology and resources to solve the global challenges, but to achieve the goals we must work together in a global partnership.

In Greenport North, our work is particularly relevant to the following goals:

7

To realise the green transition, increase the percentage of renewable energy in overall energy consumption, and increase energy efficiency.

8

Decouple growth from resource consumption and environmental overexploitation, improve resource efficiency in both production and consumption, propagate environmental technology solutions, increase both productivity and job offerings permanently.

9

Promote sustainable industry, support innovation and the rollout of new green technologies, circular economy and business models for the benefit of local businesses and citizens. Be a central driver of efficient infrastructure development.

10

Contributing to accelerating the green transport forms of the future, on land and on water. Ensure that the Port of Hirtshals is a hub for sustainable development and economic growth in the town and the municipality.

12

Minimise environmental impact by promoting circular economy and phasing out economic growth based on non-renewable natural resources.

13

Fight global warming by decreasing CO2 emissions by supporting the propagation of the green energy sources and fuels of the future.

14

Promote green fuels for the maritime sector to protect oceans from pollution and make Port of Hirtshals known and renowned for green cross-border transportation.

17

We cannot change the world on our own and must invite others to collaborate and share knowledge in the fight against global challenges. Methods, models and technologies for the energy systems of the future developed in Hirtshals can be used in ports worldwide.
