Pelagic fishing company Isafold in Hirtshals has implemented HERA, a digital energy management tool providing businesses in Hirtshals with improved insight into their energy consumption, as well as opportunities for optimization and cost savings.
The tool was developed by Greenport North in collaboration with local businesses and has been in use by several companies in Hirtshals for some time. The tool has now been named HERA – Hirtshals Energy and Resource Analysis.
HERA consolidates data on electricity, water, gas, and heating consumption in one place and is designed to help companies make better decisions regarding energy use, operations, and finances. The purpose is to provide a clearer overview of consumption patterns and give businesses a stronger foundation for both energy optimization and green transition.
At Isafold, HERA will be providing insight into the company’s overall energy production and consumption. The company has solar panels installed on its buildings and energy consumption from both the buildings and the vessel, which is plugged into to Isafold’s own shore power solution when the vessel is docked.
Karsten Mølgaard from Isafold highlights that gaining a more detailed understanding of how energy is used in daily operations is particularly important:
– It is interesting for us to look into how much electricity we use, what we use it for, and at what times of the day. We are a highly energy-intensive company, so it is important to identify the optimization opportunities available through monitoring all of our equipment. We also want to support the green transition in our company — at a pace we are able to keep up with.
